and Community Services: Juvenile Offender Diversion Programs
Summary Offender Diversion
Program
The Summary Offender Diversion Program (SODP) offers first-time juvenile offenders
an opportunity to learn constructive conflict resolution and anger management skills,
in addition to developing decision-making processes through participation in conflict
resolution and/or retail theft diversion workshops, thus allowing participants to
come to a new awareness of the dynamics involved in a more effective and productive
approach to managing conflicts in the future.
Impact of Auto Theft Program
This diversion program is designed specifically to serve those youth charged with
auto theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and/or auto-related offenses. Juveniles
who participate in this program have many opportunities to use critical reasoning
to better develop positive decision-making skills, through an interactive workshop
that ultimately aids in the participant's ability to make better quality choices
in their future.
- Victim
Offender Conferencing
Victim Offender Conferencing (VOC) is
an opportunity for victims and offenders to meet, face to face, in a structured,
secure environment to facilitate restoration, healing, reconciliation and/or restitution.
Participation in VOC requires the consent of all parties.
- Deaf & Hard of Hearing Mediation
Providing accessible mediation services in a way that recognizes and respects self-determination and the unique experience, culture and language of people who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
