GSMP Welcomes New Drexel Public Service Fellow
Good Shepherd Mediation Program is pleased to welcome James D’Angelo, the new Drexel Public Service Fellow. D’Angelo is a newly licensed attorney and graduate from the Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law. He attended several trainings at Good Shepherd before joining the staff through a post-graduate fellowship program. “I’m proud to be a part of Good Shepherd because they are dedicated to helping underserved communities and providing lasting solutions to conflict.”
D’Angelo facilitates pre-hearing conferences at Philadelphia Family Court and mediates private disputes at Good Shepherd. He also performs case intake, data entry, and provides general office support.
D’Angelo first became interested in mediation after learning about restorative practices and holistic lawyering during his time in law school. Since then, he’s tried to find the best ways to use his legal skills to help people without resorting to litigation. At Good Shepherd, he’s been able to co-mediate family and community matters. “I find mediation rewarding because it empowers people to solve their own problems and gives them a better understanding of themselves and each other. When our participants thank me after a tough and emotional mediation, I know I’ve made a difference in their lives.”
D’Angelo received his JD from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2017 and his BA in Journalism from Drexel University in 2014. His prior experience includes volunteering in a low-income tax clinic, interning for the Law Library of Congress, and working at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence.
