Nonviolent Communication: Nine Skills for Navigating Dialogue

THIS IS A VIRTUAL WORKSHOP. ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE A LINK NO LATER THAN THE MORNING OF THE EVENT.  NO PA-CLE CREDITS ARE AVAILABLE. Registration is limited.

“We have to talk.” These words can seem inviting or off-putting. This two-part zoom training presents nine skills one can use to help answer the question, “What can I do, right now, to make it likely that parties will engage in dialogue, experience understanding, and be willing to continue the conversation?” It’s possible, but it takes skill and practice. The nine skills presented can be used within this workshop as a map that can help you navigate to your destination: heartful dialogue. Session content and practice build to promote learning integration, yet each class can stand alone. Breakout room experiences and role-plays are incorporated to support skills integration. The training is designed to be useful whether you identify as a new or seasoned NVC practitioner.

Trainer: River Dunavin, MPA, brings over 40 years of communication training and practice to his work as a trainer, mediator, and coach. He is Pennsylvania’s only Certified Trainer for the Center for Nonviolent Communication. River studied directly with the developer of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Marshall Rosenberg and has facilitated NVC programs in New Mexico, Texas, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. River notices NVC principles transforming every relationship in his life. Until COVID-19, he offered trainings to incarcerated men and women inside New Jersey and Federal facilities.
