2017 Shepherds of Peace Dinner & Awards
Each year, in conjunction with international Conflict Resolution Day, Good Shepherd Mediation Program honors several individuals who have been instrumental in encouraging peace and social justice in Philadelphia and names them "Shepherds of Peace."
The dinner and awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1300 Locust Street.
The honorees are:
- Sr. Kathleen Coll, SSJ, the Executive Director of Dawn's Place, a safe recovery house for women who have been commercially sexually exploited
- Movita Johnson-Harrell and Yancy Harrell, grassroots activists working to get illegal guns off the streets and developing programs for at-risk children and those affected by crime. The Harrells founded the CHARLES Foundation in memory of their son who was killed in a case of mistaken identity
- Susan L. Brooks, Associate Dean for Experiential Learning and Professor of Law at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Drexel University and pioneer in the field of therapeutic jurisprudence
